Overview

Registered Nurse - Telemetry


Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care while assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized care plans.
  • Administer prescribed medications, including Heparin, Insulin, PCA therapies, and cardiac drips (non-titrating) according to established protocols.
  • Perform and maintain IV therapy, including starting and maintaining peripheral IVs.
  • Access, manage, and maintain implanted ports, PICC lines, and central venous access devices.
  • Perform central line blood draws and peripheral specimen collection/phlebotomy as needed.
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and telemetry data; promptly report significant changes in patient condition.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and activate Rapid Response or Code Teams when necessary.
  • Manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, including nasal cannula administration and oxygen tank management.
  • Provide care for patients with neurological conditions, including cerebrovascular accidents (CVA/stroke).
  • Care for patients with renal conditions, including renal failure and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) when applicable.
  • Assist with feeding tube care and management.
  • Perform wound care and wound vacuum (Wound Vac) management as indicated.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention practices, isolation precautions, and PPE requirements.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and patient-centered care environment.
     

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing.
  • Knowledge of telemetry monitoring and cardiac patient care.
  • Experience with IV therapy, peripheral line care, medication administration, and oxygen therapy.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
     

Preferred Certifications:

  • ACLS
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Experience in Med/Surg, MS/Telemetry, and Telemetry Units
