Certified Nursing Assistant- Med Surg


Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Medical Surgical Care Department for a full-time, 13-week assignment. This position offers 36 guaranteed hours per week on the night shift (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM), consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week. Candidates must be flexible, as occasional variable shifts and weekend rotations may be required.

The CNA will provide high-quality, compassionate patient care by assisting with daily activities, monitoring patient conditions, and supporting the nursing team in delivering safe and effective care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, EKGs, blood glucose readings, and other patient observations.
  • Perform splinting and assist with other patient care procedures within scope of practice.
  • Collect blood specimens and perform phlebotomy as required.
  • Report changes in patient condition promptly to the supervising nurse.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support continuity of care.
  • Follow infection prevention protocols and patient safety standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Provide compassionate, respectful care while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

Schedule:

  • Duration: 13 Weeks
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Shift: Nights, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
  • Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Weekend Rotation: Required
  • Variable Shifts: May be required based on department needs

Qualifications:

  • Active Maine Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Phlebotomy skills required.
  • Proficiency in EKG monitoring, vital signs collection, splinting, and glucometer use.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and patient care skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Medical Surgical environment while providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
